On Oct. 31, the Lady Rangers’ basketball coach Will Dykes was involved in a brief moment of harassment from a spectator at the men’s basketball game.

Dykes said he approached a gentleman in the stands in an attempt to enforce a policy in Gym 1 of Candler Physical Education Center.

“Somebody had brought a bottle of Gatorade into the gym,” Dykes said. “I told him that he could not have any outside drinks brought into the gym area. The guy got kind of irate.

“He told the officer that he did not appreciate the way that I was talking to him,” Dykes said.

Dykes said that as an example to those in attendance, as well as to the members of his team, he was able to stay calm and cordial with the man.

“A lot of people want action, but they don’t want the pain,” Dykes said. “I don’t want action. I’m trying to set an example for my girls.”
