The tuition and fee schedule for fiscal year 2014, with a $0 increase in regular tuition, was unanimously passed by the Audit, Budget and Finance Committee Tuesday in Killen Center, 201 W. Sheridan.
Although regular tuition rates will remain, the schedule plans to raise parking garage permit from $50 to $200. Lot parking permits will remain at $50.
The fee increase was approved by the Alamo Colleges board of trustees approved the increased fee in July 24 for implementation in the spring. The board approved a delay for the increased fee in August for implementation in the fall.
The student activity fee will remain at $1 per credit hour. Students taking more than 27 hours of developmental education will be charged an additional $112 per credit hour for in-district and $168 per credit hour for out-of-district.
Other changes in the schedule include a $40 charge per credit hour for students exceeding 125 percent of their degree program.
The additional charge from $0 per credit hour was passed by the board in July for implementation this fall.
According to the minute order, programs governed by licensure requirements are excluded.
Pamela Ansboury, associate vice chancellor of finance and fiscal administration services, said the communication design program at this college qualified for special program tuition
The program tuition for communication design courses would be $60 per semester.
The international student insurance fee would increase from $66 to $340 per semester for the fall and spring to meet requirements of the Affordable Care Act. The fee would increase from $22 to $38 during the summer semester.
Committee members include District 1 trustee Joe Alderete, District 5 trustee Roberto Zárate and District 3 trustee Anna Bustamante. Bustamante was absent.
The full board of trustees will vote on the subject during its regular board meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Room 101 of Killen.
