Professionals will give advice for the media communications industry.

The San Antonio chapter of the Association for Women in Communication and this college’s department of media communications will co-sponsor “Meet the Pros” 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday in Room 218 of the nursing complex.
The cost of the event is $5, and there will be light refreshments.
President Ginger Hall Carnes said the advantage of the event is that students create the program.
“Students will get the opportunity to select three pros from the from the eight communication fields represented. They will have 20 minutes with each pro to discuss questions or concerns they have about that field,” Carnes said Wednesday in an interview.
The eight fields that will be represented are advertising, graphic/web design, journalism, public relations, radio/TV, social media, nonprofit management, and event planning.
Some notable pros in attendance will be Sue Calberg, assignment desk manager for KENS-TV; Rebecca Fontenot, editor-in-chief of San Antonio Magazine; and Mary Spence, event coordinator for the city of Schertz.
Carnes urges students to pre-register online at AWCMeetThePros@gmail.com, but they may also buy tickets at the event.
