Smoking e-cigarettes, vapor, cigarettes or using any tobacco products is not allowed on campus, Dr. Robert Vela, vice president for student and academic success, said.
The smoking policy was updated during a board of trustees meeting Feb. 18 to include vapor and e-cigarettes, Vela said.
Vapor and e-cigarettes were not allowed on campus before the policy was updated, he said.
The board updated the policy to make it clear smoking will not be tolerated or allowed, Vela said.
Vapors have chemical compounds that can harm others if inhaled, he said.
The fine for smoking on campus is $16. If gone unpaid, the fine can climb to $27, Joe Pabon, deputy chief of the district police department, said.
