From 9 a.m to 3 p.m. Oct. 20-21, the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center is conducting a blood drive in the mall.

Donors must be 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds with good general health. A consent form is required for 16-year-old donors and they must weigh at least 120 pounds.

Donors must present a photo ID, the last four digits of the Social Security number and their birth date.

San Antonio College has donated more than 4,000 units to the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center since 2010, said Michelle Stout, donor recruiter consultant.

This year, the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center has received more than 40 units of blood from donors connected to the college, Stout said.

The winter holiday season need is extremely critical because the blood supply is extremely low, Stout said.

South Texas Blood and Tissue Center needs 600 units of blood per day to supply local hospitals, Stout said.

“Donating is safe, easy and helps to save lives,” Stout said.
