The holiday season finds many students searching the Internet and checking stores to buy gifts for the special people in their lives.
Some students might be scratching their heads over what to put under the tree for the gym enthusiasts, cyclists or runners.
Here are some ideas.
For the CrossFitters and weightlifters, a pair of weightlifting shoes such as Reebok CrossFit OLY lifters, Nike Romaleos II or Adidas Powerlift 2.0 may help improve their performance and form.
According to www.rougefitness.com, “they are all lightweight, flexible and can withstand the unique punishment that weightlifters put on their footwear.”
For cyclists, the Garmin Edge 1000 is for the performance-minded riders. It keeps track of rides, has in-ride challenges and bike-specific navigation and mapping. The rain-resistant Garmin Edge has a 15-hour battery life, smartphone connectivity and an easy-to-use touch screen.
The Lezyne Port-a-hop Toolkit is “designed for taking with you to races, training camps and it’s good enough to be their main home toolkit,” according to www.upgradebikes.co.uk.
For the runners, workout clothes from companies such as Lululemon, Under Armour and Reebok may add extra flair during workouts. A pair of running shoes from companies such as Nike, New Balance and Adidas may help put extra pep in their steps.
For those tired, tight and achy muscles of all gym enthusiasts, a foam roller might be the perfect gift. The roller can be found at stores such as Target, Walmart and most sporting goods stores. You can also purchase them from several online companies.
“Basically it’s like getting a sports massage and not having to pay such a steep price for it,” said local Anytime Fitness personal trainer Eric Miller. “After a workout — doesn’t matter which kind — rolling out on a foam roller helps with recovery.”
If students are still unsure about which gifts will bring holiday cheer to the fitness junkies in their lives, a gym membership may do the job. Several gyms such as Lifetime Fitness, Anytime Fitness, Gold’s Gym and Planet Fitness offer specials.
