Re: “Tobin Loft crime spikes in 2015,” Sept. 14
It is unfortunate to hear that crime has increased at such a high rate around the campus of San Antonio College, especially at the Tobin Lofts apartment complex.
Although I understand that not all of the residents staying at the Lofts belong to this campus, there should be a way for them to be able to fall under the jurisdiction of the campus police so that something can be done if a crime were to happen.
I am especially sensitive to the story due to the fact that my sister’s bike was stolen from outside one of the buildings on campus, only a week ago.
I wish we would have been better informed about registering our bikes with campus police before the incident. Then we may have had a chance to recover the bike.
As it stands, it doesn’t seem likely that the bike will ever be recovered.
With that being said, I do feel safe while I am on campus, seeing many of the police officers riding around on their bicycles.
I just hope that further action will take place to prevent crime from becoming a greater issue on and around the grounds of the college.
I appreciate the article for shedding light on this issue.
