In the Feb. 29, “District forecasts more fields of studies” it said the board was considering Mexican-American studies.

As a Hispanic, it would be nice to learn with more depth about indigenous roots.

When I was taking a history class, I noticed that the students who knew more about the history of America come from American families.

Because of the knowledge the parents have of their country, the kids grow up overhearing talks about the government and other topics.

When you come from a Hispanic family like mine, our parents don’t know the history of this country.

At home, they talk about the Mexican president. My mom even wants me to register to vote in Mexico.

Hopefully, the board decides to include this class in the curriculum.
