The bookstore in the basement of Loftin Student Center will be closed Monday through Oct. 3 for renovations.

The renovations are expected to improve the bookstore’s appeal.

“We’re getting, overall, just a refresh of the inside of the bookstore,” store manager Cole Johnson said. “The bookstore is going to look brand new on the inside.”

The bookstore will be getting new floors, ceilings and furniture, Johnson said.

“The storefront is going to be glass instead of the wooden doors so I think it will be a nice fresh look,” Johnson said. “Very modern.”

Despite the close, students will still be able to get certain school supplies.

There will be a temporary store in Room 150 of Loftin Student Center. The temporary store will offer basics such as scantrons, blue books, pens and pencils.

Students will also be able to purchase books at the temporary location.

“If a student needs something from the bookstore, we can run books up there if need be,” Johnson said.

The bookstore will be operating on a cash-only basis until renovations are completed.

“We won’t be able to be plugged into our credit card network, so we’re going to be cash only,” Johnson said.

Bookstore staff chose the week of Sept. 26 in an effort to have the least impact on students.

“We figure next week is the best time to be closed without interrupting students too much,” Johnson said.

The bookstore will reopen in the basement Oct. 3 with limited services. It will be back to full functionality Oct. 17.
