Hiring process in motion

Director of advising Joan Tsacalis resigned her position Dec. 15, Director of Public Relations Mario Muñiz said.
In her absence, Lisa Alcorta, vice president for student success and Richard Farias, Interim dean of student success, have been supervising the advising department.
“Richard and I support the advising team,” Alcorta said.
The human resources department released a talent search on Jan. 19.
Applications are being reviewed this week, Alcorta said Wednesday.
She said, hopefully, the interview process will begin next week.
President Robert Vela will conduct the final interview, but it may be up to a month before the position is filled, Alcorta said.
Tsacalis started working at this college Sept. 22, 2014, with a salary of $86,520, Muñiz said.
The job summary for director of advising lists “manages, develops and implements counseling and advising functions and supporting activities.”
