Clubs should post fliers on bulletin boards

Administrators at the office of student life have decided that the employees of that office will be responsible for maintaining bulletin boards.

Some student organizations have said they have had problems with fliers not being posted in a timely manner or with fliers that are being torn down and not being replaced by the office of student life.

The reason for the change, student life staff said was because of the clutter and unapproved fliers on the boards.

While that might be true and it does help students when the boards are clean and can easily be read, the fact is the employees do not have enough time to make rounds to the boards everyday.

Well, if there are not enough employees to take on that responsibility, then why take the matter into your own hands?

Go back to the old system with a few modifications, approve club fliers, have the club make copies and post them themselves; then have the student life staff check the bulletin boards once a week as they do now.

In the weekly checks, they could get rid of anything that isn’t approved, and in turn, if a club is posting fliers that are not approved, the office could talk with the club.

The bulletin boards are meant to promote events and meetings that students would be interested in, but if the fliers are not being posted in a timely manner, then there is no way the new system is more effective than the old where nobody could read anything anyway.
