Nov. 16 is the last day to drop classes for the fall semester. To officially withdraw from a class, students must get a drop slip from the instructor or counselor and submit it to the admissions and records office.

Drop slips will be accepted until 5 p.m. in Room 216 of Fletcher Administration Center.

The 80th Texas Legislature passed SB 1231 limiting the number of classes students can drop to six during their undergraduate career.

The legislation applies only to students enrolled in college for the first time this fall.

When students transfer to another university, courses dropped after the census date at this college will count toward the six-drop limit, according to the Web site.

Tomás Campos, director of student financial services, suggests students check with financial aid if planning to drop because penalties could occur.

Students who receive financial aid will owe money if they drop any course on or before the census date, Campos said.

Students who owe financial aid money as a result of a past drop will be unable to obtain financial aid until the amount owed is paid.

These students will be reported to the U.S. Department of Education, according to information in Web site www.accd.edu/sac/sacmain/FINAID/learn.htm.

To file for an appeal, the student needs to complete an appeal form provided at the student financial aid office in Room 101 of Fletcher Administration Center.
