The jump from high school to college may seem daunting, but given the right guidance, the experience does not have to be scary, and it can actually be enjoyable.

Ask people who have been through it, college is meant to be the best time one can have.

That does not mean college is not also challenging.

Students may feel like they are walking into a concrete jungle, ignorant of where to go, who to talk to, who needs to take their money.

To make college life simpler, we prepared a handy-dandy pull-out survival guide starting on Page 8.

We are giving students this information so they can be pro-active with their college experience and jump into college life with confidence.

Included in the guide are tips on resouces in the library, how to build note- and test-taking skills, how to stay safe and the importance of using the textbooks.

This college offers many services to students that are meant to give the tools they need to succeed in school and in life.

How they use the tools is their choice

It is up to students to make what they can out of college, and taking the steps outlined in our survival guide can help students get all they can out of college and make the best of their time here.

The guide, however, is just the first step students should take.

Students need to take the information, adapt it according to their needs and take responsibility for their lives and do all they can.

College is meant to be a springboard to adult life, and students need to learn to go through life without having their hands held.

Once students experience their first semester, using their time wisely, and getting all they can out of the tools provided to students, they will find that college will be one of the best times of their lives.
