Student life is seeking heavier student involvement in clubs and organizations.

The student life intramurals programming offers a place where eager college students can test their leadership, wits and athletic abilities.

Helmed by associate Director Gil Castillo, intramural sports have expanded for the spring semester.

Even though most of the students tend to be more inclined to compete in more traditional sports such as basketball or softball, intramurals for the spring semester have something new in store.

Pool tournaments, swim relays and “You Got Served” arcade dance offs with the cult hit Dance Dance Revolution will give intramurals this year an additional dimension.

More funding is now available for the clubs, organizations and programs, Castillo said, thanks to the student activities fee of $1 per semester hour.

“We want the student body to be exposed to the life of student life,” Castillo said.

“Our goal is to emphasize leadership to the clubs as well as to the officers and to encourage overall student enrollment in student life.”
