Students in a music business class are selecting the four bands for the 16th annual Alternative to Hunger fundraiser sponsored by campus radio station KSYM 90.1 FM.
Alternative to Hunger will be 6 p.m.-10:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at Pegasus, 1402 N. Main Ave. All the proceeds collected will go to the San Antonio AIDS Foundation.
Bands scheduled to play are Austin Forrest 6 p.m.-6:50 p.m., I Am The Seer 7 p.m.-7:50 p.m., Donella Drive 8 p.m.-8:50 p.m. and headliner Snowbyrd 9 p.m.-10 p.m.
Kris Zabrowski, Snowbyrd’s bass player and KSYM DJ, hosts jazz show “Straight No Chaser” 7 a.m.-8 a.m. Saturdays.
Donnie Meals, music business program coordinator, suggested the collaboration to KSYM because learning how to select bands is one of the course objectives in his MUSB 2309, Record Industry.
“(The goal is) getting the students to understand what groups work well with others. It’s not about getting all of your favorite bands. It’s a matter of putting on a show that’s cohesive,” Meals said.
Admission is $5, or a donation of five cans of food admits one person and a frozen turkey admits five people. Guests must be aged 21 and older to enter.
