A shooting on a VIA Metropolitan Transit bus left one man dead at the corner of East Cypress and North Main streets just south of this college at around 2:45 p.m. today.

San Antonio Police Department Sgt. M. Tuma said there was a disturbance on the bus and the victim was shot six times.

Deputy Chief Joe Pabon said the suspect is believed to be a white male, possibly Hispanic, with a large build and wearing a grey Dallas Cowboys hoodie.

The suspect, along with an unknown, heavyset woman in a pink hoodie, fled the scene and headed south toward downtown, Pabon said.

The area is still blocked off for the investigation.

Pabon said a crime alert has been sent out to all students, faculty and staff. He said if anyone sees anything suspicious related to the shooting, they should contact campus police. The emergency number is 210-485-0911. The non-emergency number is 485-0099.
