March 2 through March 5 is Graduation Push Week with the theme Be SAC Proud and events at the Graduation Station in the mall and in Loftin Student Center.

From 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 2 the graduation station will host a Be SAC Proud photo booth and during the same hour Tuesday, a Shoot N’ Score game of basketball will be offered.

From 9 a.m.-noon March 4 in the Fiesta Room in Loftin, representatives of local and regional universities will speak with students about their options to transfer.

Students can also stop by the Graduation Station to win a prize. Prizes for both events will be SAC Proud cups and t-shirts.

On March 5, the SAC Grad Rally will be offered 9 a.m.-1 p.m with free food, music, and entertainment.

Vanessa Torres, director of public relations, said the planning committee had two goals in mind — to provide information on preparing for graduation and to bring awareness to students not yet ready to graduate.

Applications are open for qualifying graduates on ACES.

Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher in coursework taken at this college or including courses taken at another institution that count toward the degree.

Twenty-five percent of the course work must have been done at this college to graduate. Students must have on file official transcripts from other colleges attended.

Then students must go to ACES to complete an online application and submit the audited graduation packet to admissions and records by March 20 in Room 216 of Fletcher Administration Center.

Graduates who would like to participate in commencement May 9 must pick up their cap and gown April 6-10 to confirm their participation.

“Students who are finishing their degree in the summer are still qualified to walk the stage in May,” Torres said.

Students who submit their online application by March 6 automatically qualify for the Be SAC Proud $500 scholarship that can be used toward tuition and fees for a transfer university or college-related materials.

Torres encourages students to participate and finish applications as soon as possible.
