The man who held police at bay Tuesday morning in the wake of a domestic violence call was arrested later that day.

It happened in the 500 block of West French Place, causing the closing of Lot 1 and 2. The standoff was resolved without injury.

Robert Plada, 45, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by the San Antonio Police Department.

An arrest warrant was issued at 2 p.m. Tuesday by SAPD Special Victims unit, police said.

Plada was transported to the Bexar County Magistrate’s Office where his bond was set at $75,000, Kendra Calvin, district clerk for the Bexar County Magistrate’s Office said.

“He was brought here to the Magistrate’s Office at 3:05 p.m. and he was transferred over to the Bexar County Jail at 12:32 a.m.,” she said.

Calvin said Plada was hospitalized after he was transported to jail.

Though the Bexar County Jail could not disclose why Plada was hospitalized and what his condition was, they did confirm that he was sent to the hospital on Wednesday.

Plada will remain in custody until trial or until he is bonded out, Juana Martinez, ID clerk from the Bexar County Jail, said.
