Letter: Theater is a team effort

Editor:

I enjoyed seeing coverage of the arts with your article “Dracula to Star Familiar Faces” published on Sept. 26, especially because the college has a fantastic theater department.

However, as someone who has had the opportunity to be a part of our school’s theater department, I can easily see how disheartening it would be to be an actor involved in this production who didn’t get a spotlight in the paper because they weren’t a “familiar face,” especially if they’re an actor that is excitedly new to the department and might be marking this as their first SAC production.

By focusing on only select actors that, sorry, don’t actually look familiar to me, it undermines the overall creative process of putting the show together (not just the obvious task of memorizing lines), and also distracts from what a vast team effort it is — not a small group effort.
