Students and faculty are encouraged to attend this college’s Thanksgiving Day potluck 11:15-11:45 a.m. Nov. 20 in Room 220C of Oppenheimer as part of International Education Week. Food and refreshments are free and will be provided.

Martha Buchanan, coordinator of foreign students, said the event is a “good introduction to U.S. culture.”

Buchanan said the potluck was not traditionally part of International Education Week, but was put on the calendar officially in 2011 and incorporated across the Alamo Colleges district.

She said it is not as prevalent as it used to be to take a day to give thanks, and she hopes the potluck will provide students and faculty a chance to appreciate what they have in life.
